The Experience
Vaira has crossed borders to be evaluated in a multicultural environment like Singapore, in a study conducted by the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) in collaboration with SG Assist. This study was approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB), ensuring compliance with the highest ethical and scientific standards.
Before implementation, Vaira underwent cultural adaptation to ensure that the content and virtual environments were relevant and meaningful to local participants. This cultural sensitivity was key to the pilot’s success.
During the study, both aspects of Vaira were explored:
Cognitive Stimulation: Interactive VR games were well received, generating interest and active participation among users.
Reminiscence: The evocation of personal memories through virtual environments opened doors to previously dormant thoughts and emotions, generating moments of deep connection.
Preliminary results indicate good acceptance, high adherence, and positive effects on participants’ well-being, consolidating Vaira as a promising tool in the field of active aging and cognitive care.
